Scots set sail on boat that aims to defy Israeli blockade and deliver humanitarian supplies to the people of Gaza

A SCOT is risking her life aboard a Gaza-bound boat in an attempt to deliver humanitarian aid.

Yvonne Ridley is part of The Global Sumud Flotilla, aiming to break an Israeli blockade on the Palestinian enclave.

Ridley, an award-winning journalist, is among 15 activists aboard The Omar al Moghtar which set sail from Tripoli last week and hopes to head to Gaza this weekend.

The mission is made up of 50 vessels and hundreds of participants from 44 countries, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and Mandla Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela.

It comes days after the United Nations commission of inquiry said Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Israel's foreign ministry has dismissed the report as "false".
