LAWRENCE SHANKLAND admits the carrot of next summer's World Cup is motivation for every Scotland player to remain at the very top of their game.
The Hearts striker played a massive role in securing the nation's spot at next summer's showpiece when he climbed off the bench to score the second goal in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Denmark.
Shankland had been recalled to the squad by Steve Clarke having missed out on the four opening qualifiers.
The 30-year-old leads the Premiership scoring charts and has struck 11 goals for club and country this season.
