Goodwin hails gutsy star over crucial penalty
Amar celebrates after scoring his spot-kick, right, to bury a ghost and, bottom right, Saints' opener from Nlundulu and Sibbald parties, below.
JIM GOODWIN hailed brave Amar Fatah for burying an 84th-minute penalty and banishing the memory of his Euro spot-kick agony.
The Troyes loanee was in tears after missing the vital kick as United lost the Conference League qualifier to Rapid Vienna in August.
But Goodwin told the Swedish ace to step up and exorcise that ghost after John Beaton's controversial decision to penalise and red card Alex Gogic for a challenge on Nikolaj Moller following a VAR check.
That call left Saints livid as did the ref’s decision to award a free-kick against Shamal George for handling outside his box in an incident that led to Zac Sapsford cancelling out Dan Nlundulu’s opener.
Fatah wasn't caring though and buried the spot-kick before Craig Sibbald struck a wonderful injury-time clincher.
And Goodwin, who side now sit third in the table, said: “I thought it was a penalty at the time.
“Niko Moller had an opportunity to have a strike two or three yards out and it was a clear foul.
