The Newcastle United kid is soaking up as much advice as possible from the two elite managers he has worked with this season.

And it looks to be working after the former Kilmarnock stopper made his Scotland Under-21 debut in Friday's 2-0 win over Ireland in Spain.

McArthur knows he is in a privileged position on loan at Carlisle under former Manchester City and Wales boss Hughes from Howe's Carabao Cup-winning Newcastle.

The stopper, who will face Iceland on Tuesday, said: “I'm working with two top-class managers and just want to take as much from them as I can.

“I've had a couple of chats with Eddie Howe.
