Bags of room and economic advantages make great business case for Astra Tourer

- MAGGIE BARRY

NO SOONER have you bemoaned the lack of electric estate cars than a new one pops up in the shape of the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer.

And its lugging abilities are matched only by its good looks.

But first, space. The wellshaped square boot (which makes it easier to pack in B stuff) has a low lip and a capacity of 516 litres with the rear seats up.

This means it should take four suitcases, but if there are only two of you the rear seats will go down without really any fiddling, and the boot space expands to 1553 litres.

That's four suitcases and a shopping trip in there already.

Hurrah! However, this car should appeal most to the small businessman or woman who has kit to get about but still wants to look stylish.

The nose of the Astra sports is the vizor look that Vauxhall has made its own with horizontal black gloss bookended by two elegant headlights.
