MPS WHO have backed compensating millions of women hit by a botched state pension age rise should turn up at a Commons debate and show they have not abandoned the cause, campaigners said.

Waspi - the Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign wants MPs to reaffirm their support in Wednesday's debate.

And activists warned: "If ministers think this is over, they are kidding themselves." About 3.6 million women born in the 1950s had their retirement plans ruined when the pension age rose from 60 to 65.

The Wark Department for Work and Pensions delayed writing to them about the change for more than two years.
