SOPRANO Lesley Garrett says she has relished advising Bradford City football fans on how to sing opera for a special BBC radio performance.

The Bantam of the Opera! Lesley gets fans singing

But she believes the experience has driven home the extent of the alarming lack of invest- ment in the arts and culture in the UK.

The supporters, whose team are known as the Bantams, are being given a crash course in per forming for a challenge set by BBC Radio Leeds.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is also men- toring the fans, with former Bradford City player Chris Kamara set to present the 50-strong choir for their Bantam of the Opera performance.

The radio challenge was set in celebration of Bradford being the 2025 UK City of Culture.
