‘Wonderful tribute to lifetime of service’
A CAMPAIGN to rename Heathrow after the late Queen Elizabeth is getting off the ground.
And the move to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her birth next year by rebranding the nation's busiest airport has now been backed by 21 MPs.
They signed a Commons motion supporting calls "to mark this anniversary by renaming Heathrow Airport after Her late Majesty as a fitting tribute to a lifetime of service", as well as marking her contribution "to our United Kingdom...over 70 long and glorious years." The late Queen would have celebrated her landmark birthday on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 and Cabinet Minister Lucy Powell has called the proposed name change an "excellent idea", passing on the proposal to the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee.
