Police probe as rap star chants 'Death to the IDF'

GLASTONBURY music festival was mired in controversy after two rap acts called for “Death to the Israel Defence Forces” and “Free Palestine” on stage.

Northern Irish rappers Kneecap had already hit the headlines after member Liam Og O hAnnaidh, known as Mo Chara, was charged with a terror offence for allegedly displaying a flag supporting the proscribed terrorist group Hezbollah last year. He has denied the charge.

Last night Avon and Somerset Police confirmed it was “assessing” video footage of yesterday’s performances to see if a crime had been committed.

It followed calls from UK Lawyers for Israel, which claimed that the bands had breached Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.
