Playing Jackson Lamb for the rest of my career? Well, I've got the stomach for it!

SLOW horses star Sir Gary Oldman says playing a spy slob in the top show is hitting his health - as piling on so much weight may mean he needs a stair lift.

The Oscar winner would happily portray Jackson Lamb for "the rest of my career" but says keeping podgy for the role could mean issues in the future.

The 67-year-old adores the part he has played for five years - and which earned him an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actor in a drama series.

However, the star, who wore a fat suit for Darkest Hour to play Sir Winston Churchill - earning an Oscar - has gone method for the M15 reject.

Sir Gary confessed: "I will tell you, it is five seasons and it's murderous.

"You know what, it's French fries and hot dogs and hamburgers and ice cream. It's disgusting, isn't it?

He added: "Here's the problem: it's not that I blow up in between gigs, it's just I eat well. At 67, it's very hard to lose it."
