Electric Renault looks a cracker
Best electric car of 2022? It's an easy win for the MG4. Very well priced, good on the eye and rather good fun to drive. In second place is the Renault Megane E-Tech or, as Renault will have us say, E-Tech 100% Electric, in case we forget the car is an EV.
It too is good to drive, looks good and is full of good tech. It doesn't get near the MG4's £25,000 entry price but then neither do most other EVs.
We're testing the Equilibre version which is the entry level model priced at £35,995. Attractive PCP deals are available thanks to good projections of residual values. When we say entry level, that applies to the UK because in mainland Europe customers have the choice of a Megane with a smaller battery. All UK cars are fitted with a 60kWh battery whereas other markets can have a 40kWh.
I wouldn't be surprised if Renault UK doesn't have a change of mind and one day bring in the smaller battery and with it a lower priced base model. We Brits also only get a 220PS electric motor in our cars.
