Each night she brings a young local talent she's unearthed on to the stage to sing a song.

"Some friends of mine that run Audition Ready, which is an app for young theatre people, came up with this competition where young people sent videos in of themselves performing." Whittled down to "one young person performing in each venue," she says, "I loved it for so many reasons."

Ellis has two young sons, Alfie (approaching his teens) and Freddie, 10 this year, with her husband since 2011, James Townsend. A fitness coach for a local football club, James handles domestic duties, supported by her family, while Ellis is on tour.
