Hunt aims to slash inflation and taxes

CHANCELLOR Jeremy Hunt's slashing "mission" is to continue taxes following the 2p cut in National Insurance next month.

It is understood he will also keep fighting price hikes, and hopes to cut inflation in half once again to bring it down to two per cent.

Inflation fell to 4.6 per cent in October, meaning Mr Hunt, inset, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have succeeded in keeping a pledge to halve it this year from a high of 10.7 per cent.

The Treasury is confident the economy will continue to improve and points out that polling shows the cost of living is voters' top priority, despite the focus at Westminster on imand migration Rwanda.
