JOAO PALHINHA rode to Tottenham's rescue with a stunning injury-time strike to break Wolves hearts.

Spurs had barely mustered an attempt on goal worthy of its name in a second half the visitors had totally controlled.

But just days after scoring with a spectacular overhead kick in the Carabao Cup playing centrehalf, defensive stopper Palhinha was at it again.

He arrived on loan from Bayern Munich as a destroyer of opposition attacks.

But is fast becoming a destroyer of dreams. His low drive from the edge of the box flying past Sam Johnstone to leave Wolves boss Vitor Pereira cursing under his breath as the final whistle blew.

He believed his side had done more than enough to win their first league game on the back of Santiago Bueno's first goal for the club on 54 minutes.

It was no secret that these two sides like to get the ball wide and deliver plenty of crosses into the penalty area.
