Brussels red tape 'still a threat to British life'

RED tape imposed on businesses by Brussels is a threat to daily life, experts have warned.

The IT meltdown that hit hospitals, banks and airlines when 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices went down earlier this month has been blamed on EU rules.

These forced Microsoft to give third parties the highest level of access to its software, which its rival Apple does not allow. The recent crash was triggered by a faulty update from cybersecurity specialists CrowdStrike.

In light of the crisis, Shadow Business and Trade Secretary Kevin Hollinrake said: "This is a clear example of how the rigidity and suffocation of EU bureaucracy can have significant detrimental consequences for businesses and citizens."
