MSP's call for free bus travel for u30s
December 04, 2025
|Strathearn Herald
Mark Ruskell, the Scottish Green MSP for Perth and Kinross has called for the upcoming Scottish budget to extend free bus travel to everyone under 30, describing it as a lifeline for young workers and families in the area.
-
This would build on the groundbreaking free bus pass scheme already delivered by the Scottish Greens for those under 22. Over 250 million free journeys have been taken by young people since the scheme's launch, with over 5 million of those in Perth and Kinross.
Free bus travel for young people has been one of the greatest successes of devolution, saving them and their families a fortune and helping to tackle the climate crisis.
