Hidden gem serves up homemade Italian fare

I WOULD feel weird if someone rocked up at my house with a tray of lasagne, I declared to a colleague earlier this week after debating whether to hand over £35 for a tray of the comforting Italian classic.

When it comes to trying new restaurants and cafes, I’m typically quite sanguine. The pursuit of a hidden gem in particular lends itself to an element of mystery and details being a little sparse.

Research is important, but you should also be willing to be surprised. This is the kind of laidback approach I took earlier this week when I decided to buy a family-sized portion of lasagne off the internet.

I've been following the account Miss Lasagna on Facebook for a little while now and had been intrigued by the huge portions of pasta - whether it be lasagne, fettuccine, bolognese or cannelloni being prepped, cooked and boxed up to the people of Reddish and further afield.

I could see the pictures of the product when I scrolled down the page, but something about the sign outside the door on Gorton Road, which simply reads ‘Miss Lasagna’ with an almost Al-generated female chef in the middle and a tagline of ‘Lasagna’s the queen, but pasta’s the kingdom, made me pause.

Was this real?

The menu item images were accompanied by generic pictures of pasta pulled off the internet so I was a little confused by the mismatch of pictures on the profile. Naturally, this piqued my interest further.

I should add, I question things a lot, I’m wary, but there were reviews of the product from other customers raving about the various dishes on offer, many of which are available for one or family size (four portions).

I was curious about this one, perhaps more so than others, and decided to drop a text to the WhatsApp number listed on the profile and asked to order.
