Trial will test bridge for pedestrian access

Potential progress on the long-running issue of pedestrian access over the busy Teith Bridge has been welcomed by a local MSP.

The bridge remains the only route to travel between the villages of Doune and Deanston, but those walking or cycling into Doune have been forced to navigate a narrow strip of pavement among road traffic.

Various ideas have been mooted over several years by local campaigners and political representatives in an effort to find a solution, with the bridge's Category A listed status offering a form of restriction on revamping or expanding the bridge extensively.
