Celebrations as playpark reopens
May 30, 2025
|Stirling Observer
Villagers in Kippen enjoyed a party on Sunday at Kippen Playpark to celebrate its recent upgrade.
Many local children and parents attended as well as local councillor Gerry McGarvey, leader of Stirling Council.
The playpark had remained relatively unchanged for over 20 years and it was felt something had to be done to keep the it fit for purpose for another generation to enjoy the benefits of outdoor play.
A group of local parents got together and set the ball rolling in 2019. The first meeting was held at the local primary school and following that a committee was formed, tasked with upgrading the park.
The first job was to find out what local children actually wanted in their playpark so a survey was held asking all children in the area what they would ideally like.
Top of the list was a zip wire and climbing frame as well as a toddler area with sensory panels and an inclusive swing.
The old seesaw and swings seemed to be particularly popular, so it was decided to keep them.
