Tyndrum roadside diner is crowned as Scotland's top dog-friendly cafe...

- KAIYA MARJORIBANKS

A popular roadside diner has been crowned Scotland's favourite dog-friendly cafe... and is now believed to be the first restaurant in Scotland to serve a dedicated doggy fish and chips.

The Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum was given the top accolade in research by Dog Friendly Retreats, topping the list of pet-friendly venues across the UK.

In addition to the recent accolade, the spot has, over the last few years, scooped six national industry and consumer awards for its fish and chips and regularly appears on ‘best fish and chips’ lists.

The Real Food Cafe founder and co-owner, Sarah Heward said: “Dogs are every bit as important to The Real Food Cafe as our lovely human customers, so introducing a proper menu and treats for our four-legged friends is something I’ve been looking to do for awhile.

“It’s a real joy for all the team here to see how much the dogs enjoy their fish and chips while their owners tuck into ours!
