IRCS J&K celebrates World Red Cross Day

JAMMU: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory joins the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in celebrating World Red Cross Day, 2025 with great pride and reverence at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu, Red Cross Building, Exchange Road Srinagar and across the J&K at district Headquarters where Deputy Commissioners presided the programs on Thursday to celebrate the humanitarian work which the society does to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable people affected by conflicts, disasters, and health emergencies.

Observed annually on May 8, the day commemorates the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross Movement and the first Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

This year's theme, “On the Side of Humanity,” reflects the core mission of the Red Cross: standing by communities in need, offering hope, and delivering important humanitarian assistance.

It also serves as a powerful reminder of the universal values of compassion, unity, and service that guide our efforts every day.
