AFTER a little bit of a lull, Swansea City’s summer transfer window looks to be heating up once again.

Swans plan to step up transfer activity

And with good reason. If there's anything at all to take away from Swansea's preseason outings over the last couple of weeks, it’s that depth is still a problem for Alan Sheehan ahead of the new season.

The captures of Zeidane Inoussa, Bobby Wales, Cameron Burgess, Ricardo Santos and Ethan Galbraith have all looked shrewd acquisitions, and their swift arrivals clearly helped elevate the levels of excitement around the club ahead of the new campaign.

But injury concerns to captain Ben Cabango and Santos, both of whom look to be doubts for the start of the season, have given Sheehan a particularly pertinent selection concern ahead of the weekend’s Championship opener with Middlesbrough.

As things stand, new arrival Burgess is the club’s only fully-fit centre-back ahead of the trip to Teesside, so it should be no surprise to anyone that further defensive additions have emerged as a key priority.

The club are ready to complete the signing of West Ham United youngster Kaelan Casey on a season-long loan.

Further signings at fullback are likely to also be on the agenda with options outside Josh Key and Josh Tymon looking a little thin.
