Man found on beach still unable to be indentified

THE circumstances behind the death of a man whose body washed up on a Swansea beach remain unsolved after extensive police inquiries were unable to identify him, an inquest has heard.

At Swansea's Guildhall, an inquest was held on Thursday into the death of the unknown man, who, for the purpose of proceedings, was given the pseudonym John Doe.

On December 16, 2023, South Wales Police discovered the man between Slade Bay and Green Meadow Caravan Park, Oxwich.

The man's body was found near the coastal bank by a dog walker at 2.10am that day.

The man walked the same route daily, noting that the body was not present the previous day.

Detective sergeant David Connick gave a covering report at the inquest, describing how the man's body had been discovered "badly decomposed, and appeared to have been submerged in water for some time."
