SWANSEA Botanical Gardens has marked 100 years at the heart of the community, with the Lord Mayor unveiling a new centenary panel to celebrate its enduring appeal.
The ceremony, held at the gardens in Singleton Park, recognised 100 years of care, commitment and community support that has helped make it a place enjoyed by generations of residents and visitors.
A century on from opening to the public in 1926, the gardens continue to attract thousands of visitors each year, offering a peaceful place to explore, learn and spend time outdoors.
Cllr Penny Matthews, Lord Mayor of Swansea, said: “It was a pleasure to unveil the centenary panel to celebrate 100 years of the Botanical Gardens.
“This is a place that has meant so much to so many people over the years, and it is wonderful to see it continuing to thrive thanks to the work of our teams and the support received from the Friends of Swansea Botanical Gardens.
“The gardens are a real success story for Swansea and something the city can be proud of.”
