Dragons finally start breathing fire as Ospreys suffer yet another blow
December 23, 2025
|South Wales Echo
IT was an interesting weekend for Wales' four professional sides, with the standout result undoubtedly the Dragons' 48-28 victory over Connacht at Rodney Parade.
Louis Rees-Zammit flies across the line against Harlequins
The Scarlets' winning run at the Arms Park extended to six years as Dwayne Peel's side beat Cardiff 21-17 on Friday night.
But it wasn’t a great weekend for the Ospreys who were well beaten by Munster at the Brewery Field on Saturday.
There was also plenty of Welsh representation in the Gallagher Prem over the weekend.
Here are your winners and losers.
FILO TIATIA AND THE DRAGONS
The Dragons were simply outstanding as they won their first game in the URC for 15 months.
Filo Tiatia's side thrashed Connacht at Rodney Parade in what was undoubtedly their best performance for many years.
The Men of Gwent took the Irish province to the cleaners as their pack bullied the visitors, while they had plenty of firepower out wide.
Tiatia's men have momentum on their side heading into the Christmas derbies, having won two games on the bounce following last week's victory over Lyon in the Challenge Cup.
It will be interesting to see how they get on against Cardiff and the Scarlets over the next couple of weeks, because on the evidence of Saturday night they will fancy their chances of beating both sides.
