Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali is still 'building his rhythm' after an inconsistent last few games, says Eddie Howe.

The Italian has been a standout performer for most of the season, but delivered a below-par display in last week's Champions League draw at Bayer Leverkusen.

"He's had a little bit of a bitty last couple of months," Howe admitted.

"He had a bad illness which really knocked him. Then he came back to fitness.
