In 2025, Newcastle United ended a 70-year trophy drought by beating Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

Eddie Howe's side followed that up by qualifying for the Champions League with a fifth-place finish in the Premier League. The Magpies have subsequently qualified for the Champions League knockout stages for the first time where they will face Qarabag over two legs. It's also been a year of change on and off the pitch with the club agreeing a Premier League record £130million sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool, while also spending a record £250million on new signings during the summer window.
