Pilot programme at the Royal Mail is not working

I HAVE written before in my column about my serious concerns regarding local Royal Mail deliveries, and sadly despite my repeated meetings with them, the services remain unacceptable and we are not seeing the improvements which are urgently needed.

Currently, the villages that are delivered from the Tonbridge sorting office are part of a pilot programme where the organisation’s focus is shifted from delivering letters in favour of delivering parcels, with all non-first-class mail being delivered every other weekday, as opposed to six days a week. Similar problems continue to be faced in areas delivered to by the Sevenoaks sorting office, and it means mail is delivered late, or not delivered at all, including medical appointments, legal documents and financial statements.
