Students help school to bloom

ENTHUSIASTIC young people from Scunthorpe have ensured a school looks 'blooming' brilliant for the summer - and supplied healthy produce to nearby residents.

Horticultural students from Trent View College travel to Grimsby every week to support Littlecoates Primary Academy in improving its outdoor spaces. Their efforts have paid off with the school selected by Grimsby in Bloom to represent the town in the East Midlands in Bloom regional competition. Both are members of Wellspring Academy Trust.

Mentor Rob Patchett, from Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire, leads a weekly, after-school Gardening Club at the Grimsby school.

Principal Neville Wilkinson was proud of what has been achieved by a team effort.

"We have a beautiful site and getting our children out in nature that surrounds us as much as possible is fantastic," he said.
