Step ahead of winter gloom

This week has seen the slow push back to normality after Christmas.

It’s easy to slip into a gloomy mindset, with summer so far away and only the cold and wet to “look forward to”. But I seem to avoid the winter blues by focusing on things I can do now and planning ahead.

I was lucky enough to spend a few days away in the Peak District with my wife and good friends Jim and Jo. We often forget what is on our doorstep, so we made the most of our break doing touristy things, visiting Chatsworth and Bakewell (where we had to have a delicious Bakewell Pudding) before doing a few hikes.
