I was miffed when Jack chose his dad not me for TV role

THE MOTHER of comic Jack Whitehall has admitted she was hurt when he asked his father Michael to appear on TV with him, rather than her.

The documentary Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father was a huge hit. Running for five series from 2017-2021 it saw the duo embark on epic trips across Australia, America, Europe and South East Asia.

But former actress Hilary said: “Michael had no desire whatsoever to be a performer. I have had a journey on that one, because I felt that he picked the wrong parent to do it with.

“I get it that the father-son thing is funny and it’s funny because he’s got a grumpy dad. But obviously I’m the performer. I would have loved to have done stuff with Jack, but he picked his dad.

“So, I had to get over that. I found that

quite difficult. That was his choice to do it with his dad, because he’d referenced him so much in his sets. I get why he did it, but it was a journey.”
