Emma Wolstenholme, as part of the Call to Earth crew, will row from Canaries to English Harbour in Antigua, inset.

Uist Coastal Rowing Club member Emma Wolstenholme is part of three-person crew Call to Earth, raising awareness of sustainability practices to tackles climate change as well as collecting money for marine conservation and climate initiatives.

Already a world record holder as part of an all-female crew rowing around Britain, Emma is joined by marine technologist Stacey Rivers and former RAF pilot John Hammond.

Their mission also includes highlighting ocean plastic issues and inspiring innovation around decarbonisation.

The team will row unsupported, relying on solar panels for power and a solar-powered water maker. They are partnered with Water Plus, a UK business water retailer, to jointly promote water efficiency and sustainability.

In 2023, Emma, from Grimsay, took on the 2,000-mile challenge with Team Ithaca for the world record. Now it’s a thousand miles more.
