If your idea of a dream holiday is basking in the sunshine with a cocktail and beach view, we've got you covered. We're kicking off the year with the ultimate sun-seeker's guide to the hottest destinations to bookmark for every month.
JANUARY
Mexico: Temperatures average around 29C and conditions stay dry and sunny.
Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas all boast some postcard-worthy beaches, brilliant nightlife and tons of hotels, including all-inclusive.
Caribbean: Swerve the monsoon season and visit in January for the best chance of sun. Barbados, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are some of the beautiful spots with those white sand beaches, lush green backdrops and plenty of adventures to be had.
Dubai, UAE: With temperatures ranging from 15C to 24C in January, it's an ideal time to visit before temperatures soar and it becomes too hot for some. Highlights include the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, the huge Dubai Mall and its beautiful beaches.
FEBRUARY
Cape Verde: The island nation boasts temperatures between 21-27C, with seven to eight hours of sun every day. It's warm enough to make the most of its beaches and the sea is often calm enough to enjoy water sports.
Thailand: Given the temperatures of 24-33C, minimal rain and heaps of sunshine, Thailand has ideal conditions whether you're looking to make the most of the sand in Phuket, island hop or explore the culture and history of hotspots including Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
Costa Rica: You'll miss the peak winter sun crowds but still get in before the rainy season kicks off in April, meaning opportunities to explore the rainforest, hike volcanoes or laze on one of the many, many golden beaches. February is also one of the best times to head to Monteverde and its famous cloud forest.
