Wine critic's £180k court fight with dogsitter over cockapoo crash injuries

A RENOWNED wine critic who claims an actress-turned dogsitter allowed his cockapoo to be run over has launched a £180,000 court battle.

Writer Harry Eyres blames Kendra Torgan for the serious spinal injuries his dog Ebony suffered after being hit by a car outside her home in 2022.

Mr Eyres, 66, has said he was forced to spend thousands on life-saving reconstruction surgery for the “beloved member of his family”.

The former Harpers & Queen wine editor and Times theatre critic, who now writes for publications including Country Life magazine, is seeking up to £30,000 in damages at Central London County Court.

However, the case, which also involves the company whose employee drove the car, is set to incur more than £150,000 legal costs.
