EWAN WILSON admits his loan switch from Motherwell to Raith comes with the fringe benefits of learning on the job alongside two of Scottish football's most durable defensive stalwarts.

Wilson ready to make most of study break at Stark's by leaning on former Hibs duo

The Scotland Under-21 star had his first taste of Championship action with a debut draw against Airdrie where he lined up alongside Paul Hanlon as a replacement for the benched Lewis Stevenson.

It will be an understudy role to the former Hibs duo for the fullback who has signed until January after finding himself on the sidelines at Well due to the form of Emmanuel Longelo.

Wilson, 20, said: "I don't want to be on the bench. I'm like any footballer - I just want to play as many games as possible and it's a great opportunity to be in a dressing room with two guys who've had terrific careers.

"Paul has got so much experience and being on my side of the defence he can coach me and help me with my game. I can help him with being younger and more athletic.

"Paul and Lewis have had such great careers and have played at the highest level of Scottish football.

"Lewis at his age is still great. He's played umpteen games and is perfect to learn from, especially for me at such a young age."
