Will Farage Reform UK?
June 26, 2025
|Scottish Daily Express
JUST up the road from me, someone has stuck a sheet of A4 in their window with “Refugees welcome here” scribbled on it in black marker pen. Whenever I pass it, I can’t help but wonder how the homeowners envisage this generous invitation playing out.
-
Given the nature of the neighbourhood - relatively quiet and some way out of town - the chances of any random refugees trudging past, spotting that sign and thinking: “At last! Our journey is over!” strike me as fairly slim.
And even if that were to happen, have these homeowners really thought this through? I’ve no doubt they’re lovely folk with the best of intentions, and that a couple of weary, displaced strangers turning up on their doorstep would indeed be welcomed in with open arms.
