Visas not part of India trade deal

VISAS for Britain could be denied to countries that refuse to take back foreign criminals and other people the UK wants to deport, the Prime Minister has hinted.

Sir Keir Starmer said the Government is “looking at whether there should be a link between visas and returns agreements”.

Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick has pushed for a tough stance, saying: “If the Indian government won’t take back Indian nationals here illegally, why are we issuing them visas?”
