Trump visit? Just another day at the office for our police

The five-day trip has prompted widespread criticism in some quarters and numerous protests are planned across the country.

Yet despite this, Assistant Chief Constable Emma Bond said she was confident that there would not be any “significant issues” during the event.

Rank-and-file officers have also expressed concerns over the pressure President Trump’s presence will have on the force and possible legal action has been mooted by the Police Federation.

President Trump is expected to fly into Prestwick Airport on Friday on board Air Force One to visit his five-star hotel and golf course at Turnberry, which is located nearby.

His itinerary will also see the president flying in his official helicopter - Marine One ~over to his other golf course and hotel, The Menie in Aberdeenshire.

Demonstrations have been planned in both locations as well as in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

However, Assistant Chief Constable Bond, speaking at a Press conference in Glasgow yesterday, said Police Scotland was fully prepared for any eventuality.
