DONALD TRUMP is poised to sever a 227-year link between Scotland and the USA, despite his apparent love for his mother’s native country.
Reports in America suggest the Republican President is weighing up plans to close the US consulate in Edinburgh.
The US Government has had a presence in Scotland since 1798 in the shape of the consulate.
The current one has been situated on Regent Terrace for the last 74 years and provides services for American citizens in Scotland, while helping to maintain cultural and business ties between the two nations.
