Tributes as D-Day trio mourned

TRIBUTES have been paid after three Second World War D-Day heroes died.

Richard Aldred, 101, landed in Normandy in a tank on D-Day in 1944 with the Royal Armoured Corps. His Royal Navy pal John King, also 101, saw action in Operation Shingle.

Richard, of Cornwall, revisited the beaches with veterans Ken Hay, Jim Grant, Henry Rice and John Dennett last year. They made annual pilgrimages to the British Normandy Memorial.
