The BBC could soon be yesterday's news

COULD this finally be the end of the BBC? In the wake of the entirely justified resignations of BBC director-general Tim Davie and CEO of News Deborah Turness, it's been enjoyable to watch some Beeb stalwarts trying to blame everyone else for how Auntie has managed to get itself into such a mess.

First up was, natch, President Donald Trump, blamed for threatening the BBC with legal action, thus prompting Tim 'n' Debs to take a bullet on Auntie's behalf, according to insiders desperate to shore up an institution that has become rotten to the core. What utter rubbish. It was Panorama that essentially lied about what The Donald had said; he had every right to be incandescent and he has every right to sue.
