Tesla boss becomes first person worth half a trillion
ELON Musk has become the first person in the world with a personal fortune of more than $500billion.
His half-trillion milestone was passed following a surge in the valuation of Tesla and his wider portfolio of technology ventures.
According to the Forbes billionaires index, the SpaceX boss's wealth reached $500.1billion (£373billion) on Wednesday afternoon in New York, before easing slightly to just over $499billion later in the day.
Musk, who also leads artificial intelligence startup xAI and social media platform X, has seen the valuations of his companies climb in recent months, further cementing his position as by far the richest person in the world.
