Teen gets just six years for savage killing of man

A TEENAGE thug who carried out the “savage and merciless” killing of a charity fundraiser has been jailed for just six and a half years.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, later confessed to being “out of control” when he carried out the attack on Scott Mitchell.

The then 15-year-old turned on his victim after spotting him kissing a woman in a back garden.

He rained punches and kicks on the stricken 48-year-old during the horror attack in Alness in the Highlands in June 2023. The teenager only stopped when a witness dragged him off the father-of-two.

The boy — now aged 17 - yesterday appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow. He had previously admitted to culpable homicide.
