HOLYROOD is facing an £850million budget black hole in the coming years, brought about by the SNP’s generous benefits system and bloated civil service.

HOLYROOD is facing an £850million budget black hole in the coming years, brought about by the SNP’s generous benefits system and bloated civil service.

Scots have been warned about the prospect of tax increases and public services being slashed in order to balance the books.

The Scottish Fiscal Commission published its analysis of the state of Scotland’s finances yesterday and it made for grim reading for the Scottish Government.

It warns that projected spending will exceed funding by more than £2billion by 2029-30.

And Finance Secretary Shona Robison has been told by the fiscal experts she must explain how this gap will be closed in her December spending review.
