SCOTTISH TALENT IS HERE INSISTS STALWART SIBBALD
August 06, 2025
|Scottish Daily Express
CRAIG SIBBALD is proud to fly the Saltire in the Dundee United starting XI, but insists there is plenty more Scottish talent coming through.
A lot was made when Jim Goodwin didn’t name a homegrown player in his team for the home Conference League qualifying leg with UNA Strassen, although he brought the midfielder in for the return leg win in Luxembourg.
Sibbald has been a standout since he forced his way back into the team and is expected to be in the engine room for Thursday’s glamour third round first-leg qualifier away to Rapid Vienna.
Sibbald said: “I’m proud about it (being the only Scot).
“There are plenty of Scottish boys on the bench and still coming back from injury.
“[’m happy to play. Always pleased to start. I’m just there waiting to see my name on the team sheet. So happy to play my part and hopefully I’ve done well.”
The Tannadice club have brought in 11 players from outside of Scotland this summer. It might be a League of Nations but Sibbald insists they are very much United.
