Cameron fired up by manager's belief

LYALL CAMERON’S arrival at Rangers has been slightly lost amid the whirlwind of transfer activity that followed Russell Martin's appointment as boss.

But the 22-year-old midfielder plucked from Dundee on a Bosman on ex-manager Philippe Clement's watch plans to make a big impact this season.

While Martin filleted many of his players for lacking the mentality to prevent two points being dropped at Motherwell in their league opener, he was full of praise for Cameron after his introduction off the bench.

The manager may have brought in nine players, with £4million Finnish winger Oliver Antman the latest arrival, but Cameron could turn out to be a dream signing.

He was picked out by Martin as showing the required attitude to be a Rangers player.

And that might just have opened a door for Cameron to force his way into the lineup for tonight’s Champions League third qualifying round first-leg tie against Viktoria Plzen.

Ahead of the Czechs’ visit to Ibrox, he said: “Do I like going under the radar? Yeah, definitely.

“Look, I was never going to be a massive signing for Rangers, coming from a small club like Dundee.

“But I know what I can bring and hopefully I can implement that and do as well as possible.

“I’m definitely ready to start on Tuesday, you always need to feel ready.
