Prince: We owe so much to Paddy and his generation. We shall never forget them

THE nation owes “so much” to Battle of Britain pilot John “Paddy” Hemingway, the Prince of Wales said in an emotional tribute to the hero after he died aged 105.

The former fighter pilot was the last surviving member of The Few, as Winston Churchill hailed those who battled the Luftwaffe in 1940 against the threat of Nazi invasion.

The Prince of Wales said: “We owe so much to Paddy and his generation for our freedoms today. Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered. We shall never forget them.”
