NHS staff 'quitting over calls trauma'

ONE in four NHS control room staff have quit in the past three years over “relentless” traumatic calls, a union claims.

Data gathered by Unison from ambulance trusts showed high rates of turnover and sick days.

Eleven out of 13 answering Freedom of Information requests reported a total of 166,940 sick days in 2023-24. The union said it was equal to more than a month each for 5,084 staff against the UK worker average of four sick days.
