Mediterranean heat is on for gardens at RHS festival

GARDENS could become more Mediterranean in style, with a sign of things to come reflected in the Royal Horticultural Society’s show.

The Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival in Surrey, which runs from tomorrow until July 6, features more plants that thrive in places such as southern Europe.

Faith Carthy, festival project manager, said: “There's a huge variety of planting styles on show but underpinning it is a move to a more Mediterranean-inspired planting palette that thrives under a sunny sky and in dry conditions.”
