LONGELO LAMENTS WELL'S ENERGY

EMMANUEL LONGELO is adamant Motherwell will prove their below-par Premier Sports Cup semifinal display against St Mirren was just a blip.

The Steelmen have earned plaudits this season for their attractive play under Jens Berthel Askou and sit sixth in the Premiership table with just two defeats in 10 fixtures.

However, they failed to hit those heights on Saturday at Hampden, where they were crushed 4-1 by the Buddies, who now have a date with destiny against Celtic in the December 14 final.

Motherwell now head to Pittodrie on league duty on Saturday licking their wounds and left-back Longelo, right, expects a positive reaction from his side, who have already beaten Aberdeen in the league and cup this term.

The 24-year-old Englishman said: "Thank you to all the fans who came to Hampden. We owe them one at Aberdeen.

"We have two wins against Aberdeen but that means nothing. We have to work hard and give our all to keep that run going.
